2014 Oscars: Viola Davis in Escada

I love love love Viola’s fashion sense, but this is a big fail to me.  The color is gorgeous, but that fabric is no one’s friend.  All the puckering is just not good, especially with how the dress is cut. Definitely a disappointment.

2014 Oscars: Kelly Osbourne in Badgley Mischka

Kelly Osbourne looked beautiful in Badgley Mischka, whose designs always look good at award shows.  I love all of the intricate detailing on this dress. The hair and umbrella work really well with the whole look. I don’t like the matchy-matchy clutch though.

2014 SAG’s: Kathy Griffin in Antonio Berardi

This could have been a personal best for Kathy. The color is absolutely gorgeous on her.  The shoulder detail is beautiful.  That waist detail is not at all flattering, though, and takes the look down.

2014 SAG’s: Gretchen Mol in J. Mendel

I liked this look. It was white but didn’t look bridal.  The interesting texture of the top really works.  The hair was a perfect choice. The shoes, however, were not.

2014 SAG’s: Mindy Kalling in David Meister

This was not my favorite.  The color is decent, but the cut and shape of the dress are not the most flattering for Mindy in my opinion.  I do like the easy breezy hair and the jewelry.

2014 SAG’s: Sofia Vergara in Donna Karan Atelier

Sofia Vergara has been opting for silhouettes other than mermaid, and it’s paying off.  This is a wow moment.  It’s sexy and sparkly. She really carries it well.  I don’t love the addition of the necklace. The dress was sparkly enough.  It didn’t need anything else.

2014 SAG’s: Cate Blanchett in Givenchy

When I saw this on TV, I thought I was going to have to give the Queen of the red carpet a negative review. But in pictures, it’s absolutely stunning.  I don’t know of a person who could pull this off except the great Cate.  The bracelet isn’t my favorite, but that’s my only complaint.

2014 SAG’s: Holly Hunter in Randy Rahm

Sleek, simple, age-appropriate, flattering, beautiful. This won’t be best dressed, but I applaud Holly (and her stylist) for picking the right dress for her.  A great choice.

2014 SAG’s: Emilia Clarke in Calvin Klein

This was a different take on minimalism that I like.  Definitely a clean shape that is really taken up by a great sparkly fabric.  I love the unusual color choice.  Don’t love the jewelry or bag, but I love the hair and makeup.

2014 SAG’s: Julie Bowen in Carolina Herrera

This was not flattering at all.  To me, it’s a fashion risk that did not work. The black in the middle is awkwardly done and creates the illusion that she’s wider than she is. Even if that issue were fixed, the dress still feels too casual to me. This is a real contender for worst dressed.
